Abstract
The importance of parents' role in children's language development has been shown to have a significant impact, particularly in English language learning. The research focuses on the parents’ role in supporting the young learners’ English vocabulary mastery at SD N Bandungan 01. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative with total sampling, which involved 55 parents as respondents, due to the limited population. The research instruments used included a 30-question questionnaire, as well as data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that parents' involvement is very positive in supporting their children's English learning. There were several methods that could be done by parents to support the young learners’ English vocabulary mastery, namely parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision-making, and collaborating with the community. Based on the questionnaire data, it was found that parents' parenting was excellent (58.2%), communication was excellent (50.9%), parents' willingness to volunteer was very good (61.8%), and home learning was very good (69.1%). In addition, parental decision-making reached an very good level (49.1%), and collaboration with the community also fell into the very good category (52.7%). It can be concluded that the active role of parents in assisting children to learn English greatly affects children's progress in vocabulary acquisition, as well as creating a pleasant learning atmosphere that supports optimal language development. Keywords: parents’ role, English vocabulary mastery, language development.
