Abstract

Menurut WHO (2023), cakupan ASI eksklusif global mencapai 48%, mendekati target 50% pada tahun 2025. Desa Pledokan mencatat cakupan terendah yaitu 61,76% (2023) turun menjadi 58,50% (2024). Exclusive breastfeeding is a crucial strategy to meet the nutritional needs of infants during the first six months of life, while also playing a significant role in reducing infant mortality rates. According to WHO (2023), global exclusive breastfeeding coverage has reached 48%, approaching the 50% target for 2025. In Indonesia, the exclusive breastfeeding coverage based on the Indonesia Health Survey (2023) is 68.6%, with Central Java Province ranking second nationally at 80.2%. Based on data from the Central Java Statistics Bureau (2024), the coverage of infants under six months receiving exclusive breastfeeding reached 80.27%, showing a positive increase from the previous year. In Semarang Regency, exclusive breastfeeding coverage was 97.90% in 2023, declining slightly to 95.67% in 2024. However, the coverage at Sumowono Public Health Center was lower, at 78.20% in 2023 and 74.43% in 2024, with Pledokan Village recording only 61.76% in 2023 and 58.50% in 2024. A preliminary study found that 5 out of 7 mothers had not fully understood the concept of exclusive breastfeeding, often influenced by traditional practices such as giving bananas or water before six months. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding practice. Using an analytical correlation design with a cross-sectional approach, 58 mothers with infants aged 7–23 months in Pledokan Village were surveyed through questionnaires. Chi- square analysis showed a significant relationship (p = 0.009), indicating that better maternal knowledge increases the likelihood of exclusive breastfeeding. Strengthening education and support for mothers is essential to achieving national breastfeeding targets.
